Plenty of sunshine and temperate climates… two of the many reasons people call Alberta SouthWest home!
The climate in the SouthWest Region is semi-arid with generally dry, hot summers. July and August are typically the warmest months with average temperatures ranging in the mid to upper 20's (° C).
The winters are generally cold and sunny interspersed with warm Chinooks. (A Chinook is a warm dry wind that descends the Eastern slopes of the Rockies in the winter and can raise the temperature by more than 34° C or 55° F)
Precipitation ranges 40 – 45cm annually except in the foothills where accumulations reach 55 - 65cm annually.

Sunshine hours for the Southwest are approximately 2,300 hours annually!
