Things To Do - Cultural Exploration

A rich history – a vibrant culture

Alberta SouthWest is full of cultural gems and little known historical facts. It's a museum-lover's dream, from the UNESCO World Heritage site Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo Jump to the Cheese Factory Museum in Glenwood and almost everything in between.

Our museums and cultural centers tell a compelling story dating back more than 12 000 years to the First Nations People.  You can learn about the pioneering spirit of the settlers who bravely moved to the prairies and the proud history of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.  You could take some time to explore our rich “western” heritage and discover the Code of the West still evident in today’s cowboy traditions.

Find out about the coal mines that brought both prosperity and disaster to the Hill Crest region or learn about the greatest landslide in the history of North America.

Use the resources below to find out how you can enjoy some of Alberta SouthWest’s cultural centers.
