Things To Do - Nature, Science, and Education

Nature’s classroom awaits

Alberta SouthWest is truly a wonderland of natural attractions.  With its prairie landscapes, rolling hills and glacial formations, you are bound to discover something new about the natural world that you didn’t know before.   Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, from common prairie or mountain creatures to rare species native to our unique natural landscape.  Here you can learn about unique glacial ecosystems, subalpine lakes, waterfalls, buffalo jump sites and rock and fossil formations.

Science centers, interpretive centers and museums offer the chance to learn first-hand about coal mining and natural disasters that changed the course of the history, fossils and early farming practices, just to name a few.  Our UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Waterton Lakes National Park and Head-Smashed-in-Buffalo Jump are rich with opportunities to learn about the natural world and artifacts that tell a story of the Plains natives who first roamed this great land.

Use the resources below to find out how you can find out about nature, science and education in Alberta SouthWest.
