Investment Attraction and Business Retention

Alberta SouthWest leads initiatives to grow the region’s economy with a focus on tourism, energy opportunities, value-added agri-processing, manufacturing, and technology innovation. For over two decades, Alberta SouthWest communities and partner organizations have achieved award-winning success and recognition. We welcome you to look at some of our key initiatives in southern Alberta.

SOUTHWEST INVEST

SOUTHWEST INVEST projects are designed to build investment readiness. Regional promotion is foundational to bringing economic benefit to our communities and to our region. AlbertaSW values the work and services of Community Futures Offices (CF SouthWest, and CF Crowsnest Pass) who focus on growing business “one at a time”. Together our offices can meet the needs of communities and business at multiple levels.

Alberta SouthWest has landscapes, industry, people, and resources that are attractive to a new generation of wealth creators interested in sustainable economic and community development.

Bringing Investment Home

“Bringing Investment Home” a partnership project between Community Futures Alberta Southwest, Alberta SouthWest Regional Alliance, and Community Futures Crowsnest Pass. It is estimated that the year-long project generated and supported about $7M of new and expanded business investment in the region. Learn more here.

Business Succession Planning

The Southern Alberta Business Succession Project is dedicated to providing resources to help business owners find successful transitions through proper planning.

We believe that with access to the right education, resources, and planning processes, valuable community businesses and farms will continue to operate for generations to come. Through this partnership, any individuals located in these regions can have free access to a series of workshops and webinar series that help business and farm owners prepare for the day that they transition.

Connect4Commerce

Connect4Commerce is an online platform designed to help with buying and selling almost anything, from equipment to entire businesses. The site is also a hub of information and advice related to buying, selling and growing a small business.

While there are other buy-and-sell websites, Connect4Commerce is the only one-stop-shop designed specifically for business-to-business interactions, making it more targeted and generating a highly engaged community

Southern Alberta Investment & Trade Initiative (SAITI)

This partnership with SouthGrow and Economic Development Lethbridge focuses on promoting Southern Alberta's unique benefits into a competitive advantage for local businesses. The goal is to let the world know about the region’s unique selling proposition — a strong economy; a productive well-educated labour pool, incentives & competitive tax rates; strong world connections; abundant land & resources; high quality of life.
